Graveyard shift and other southern ek-ek news

Eto na naman ako at balik sa pang-gabi na hanap buhay, hindi na tinatanggap ng sistema ko pero kelangan gawin. Anyways, tuloy ang trabaho.

Isang taon na pala ang “Between Lunacy and You” CDEP ng TSY, parang kalian lang nung nag-iisip kami ng konsepto ng pang 2^nd EP aba’y naka isang taon na pala yung una – 100 copies lang at talaga naman ubos na. Sa karanasan ko kapag DIY punk band ka dito sa pilipinas, Masaya ka na makabenta ng 50 kopya at 50 ipapamigay mo na.  Since na 1 year anniversary ng EP, libre na i-download sa bandcamp page namin. http://theskeletonyears.bandcamp.com/

Sa 2^nd EP plano madagdagan naman yung ipapakopya mga 200 copies siguro  depende sa budget, sa lamat kay Ms Claire Villacorta sa pag-produce ng buong EP, hindi matatawaran ang pag-tulong mo sa amin, btw si Ms.CV rin pala ang producer/director ng 1^st project nya music video ng “Control”.  Si Ms.CV matagal na namin kaibigan, sya ang isa sa mga pioneer ng “zine culture” sa pilipinas noong late 90’s early 2000 and since day 1 ay all out ang support nya sa lahat ng DIY projects from show organizing, zine making, music videos, record producing etc.  

Nakakataba lang ng puso na may nag-iinvest sa “art” ng TSY and mind you she did it all the funding from recording to production, ang laki ng tiwala niya sa grupo. Push natin yan Ms.CV,  hindi ka namin bibiguin.

 Konting teaser sa bagong EP tentatively entitled “Pieces of Recovery” na may 6 tracks na tinitiyak ko magbabago sa “usual” TSY sound na narinig nyo last year. I’d say “Chong’s not Dead” than Defend Pop Punk. Charot lang!

Recorded ulit sa Easy Audio Recording Studio owned and operated by Mr. Paga Manikan. Ang ever reliable sound engineer ng karamihan sa south manila bands et al: Neverdie, Cubicles, Tropical Parts,  Molar, Banat Boys, Nevertheless , The Prolets at marami pang iba.

In other news, ang most active bigtime south punkers Banat Boys will be having their full length album launch this August at meron din yata music video launch gaganapin somewhere in Quezon City, full support sa mga Banat Punks from south. https://www.facebook.com/banatboys 

Two new bands on the rise compose of Mr. Tani Carino, ang una yung Lindenwood with members of Import the World and Banat Boys, melodic punk na me dual vocals, reminds me of HWM and Such Gold.  Another band na aabangan yung Small Hands; super collaboration nila Tani, Chi (Typecast), Alva (Game Theory), Zep (Walk Me Home) on the process pa yung jamming and writing songs pero based sa nakita ko kinda like indie pop/HC/bubblegum punk mix with gruffy co-ed vocals, parang  Hot Water Music, Heartsounds, Lemuria na bagsakan. Hopefully bago matapos ang taon matuloy yung mga plano: Molar: another band by Tani (me tulog ka pa ba bro?) at Ralph Gonz ng Neverdie ay may ilalalbas yata na EP ngayong taon. Expected na yung mga emotic-math rockish beat nyo guys,  Mga new stuff ng Neverdie, Tom’s Story, Tropical Parts at iba pang Continent record bands. Matgal-tagal narin akong hindi nakakarinig ng bagong tunog mula sa mga ‘to. Readers anyone is interested in collaborating sa project ko in putting up a DIY all ages show every Sunday afternoon to keep the spirit of south?
